Help with refinishing hardwood floors.?
I am remodeling a house….How long should we wait after painting to sand and refinish the antique wood floors???
Another question…..I have inherited my grandfathers house. This is the one with the wood floors. It was an old school house built in late 1800’s to early 1900’s. My father remembers when he was a child and putting some type of OIL on the floors to make them shine to keep from refinishing them. He didn’t say what kind of oil. Will this sand away with the top portion of the wood or will I be wasting my time sanding. If the oil is still present I’m Amoxil price afraid the poly will not stick and all of our work will be in vain. Any advise is appreciated.

I suppose when the paint is dry. Don,t forget you are going to kick up dust when you sand but it won,t hurt your paint at all. Also when you stain your floor, put a coat or two of polyurethane over it to bring out a good shine. The only bad thing about poly is you have to wait until each coat dries which takes days. The only other alternative is after staining is to buff in a couple coats of floor wax which still looks good but has to be periodically done after a lot of traffic.
Read the instructions on the paint can; it will tell you approximately how long the paint will need to dry before adding a second coat. Use that time as a guide.
